His current collection of art-to-wear garments focuses on casual elegant shapes, accented with hand-dyed Shibori.

Michael Kane is inspired by the Earth's natural spirit. The patterns of wood grain, reeds at a river's edge or ripples on the surface of water become images reflected in the organic patterns of Shibori. The voice of this well-known artist speaks of these natural energies through his work.

Self taught, Micheal Kane utilizes the Japanese dyeing techniques of Arashi Shibori (pole wrapping), and Itajimi Shibori (board clamping). He creates each piece by hand-dyeing, discharging, airbrushing using 100 percent silk, often adding other techniques to achieve his goal. Each construction is pieced, layered, or appliqued.
